Researchers of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) found in a study that by 2025, lung cancer cases in India may increase up to 7 times as compared to the last 10 years. In fact, in about 45% of lung cancer patients, it is detected when the cancer has reached the rest of the body. In India, it is usually detected in 50 years, by which time the situation has worsened a lot.

Guidelines regarding lung cancer

In this, it has been asked to focus on increasing cancer screening in people aged 50-80 years with at least 20 packs of smokers every year. According to an estimate by the USPSTF, if the new guideline is followed properly, then deaths due to lung cancer can be reduced by more than 13%.
